WEG Experience

I was lucky enough to spend (almost) a week at the World Equestrian Games and I have to admit that coming home and working the next day was a painful experience. I never wanted to leave the bubble that was WEG 2018. As I mentioned in my previous post, yes, there was unfinished parts of buildings, etc. but that did not hinder my experience what so ever. The only issue we ran into when I was there occurred on Saturday during the driving out on the cross country course. A huge lack of communication left a lot of us stuck there longer than expected while waiting for shuttles - but it all ended up ok.

On to the good stuff now, shall we? While I missed the last day of show jumping, I was lucky enough to experience the nail biting jump off between USA and Sweden during the team portion of the competition. Watching Mclain Ward and Clinta put in the final round in the deafening silence gave me heart palpitations. The jump off could not have been any more of a nail biter and seeing the USA win gold was incredible!

Mclain and Clinta doing what they do best!

My crummy iPhone pics from the winning ceremony.

While show jumping has my heart, I also spent a hunk of time watching vaulting and driving. I appreciate every discipline and knowing that the love of horses brought all these people together was such a special moment.

Can I just say how impressed I am with vaulting?? I cannot fathom being able to do any of that on a horse. I wish I were that flexible and graceful, but sadly I am not so I will continue to stick with the hunters and jumpers.

Being the horse crazy person I am, I want to get my hands on all the horse activities. My new found passion (in my mind because I obviously haven't actually tried) is driving. I need to find someone who can teach me the basics of driving. The teams were just incredible!

Other random pictures from around WEG.

Disclaimer: I might be a creeper. I love Kaley Cuoco and was so excited to see her husband, Karl Cook. I was hoping Kaley would be there, but she was off doing other awesome things (like animal fundraisers) during WEG.

Oh and if shopping is your thing, then you would have loved it. I shopped until I dropped and kept going back for more. I have so many new and exciting equestrian apparel to review! Like my new found love for Dreamers and Schemers boot socks. They are the cutest things ever!

You better believe I am now the proud owner of purple unicorn boot socks. I also found an adorable pair of unicorn llamas.

I discovered a new brand that I must say I love. Seriously, I tried on breeches, a show coat, paddock boots, and half chaps and they were seriously all wonderful. Take a peak at Ego 7 and let me know if you've tried any of their products. I did come home with a few that I will tell you all about once I get the opportunity to test them out.

I also got a few custom surprises that I will have posts about once they arrive.

I hope you all have had a nice start to your week. I have a hectic week but am reminiscing of my days at WEG and wishing I was back there ignoring my daily responsibilities.

Before I go, here is a shameless proud mamma plug on my boy being champion at his first real horse show!

I just love this boy.

WEG Day 1

After biting my nails and sweating anxiously while riding out hurricane Florence and questioning if I would be able to make it to WEG, I can happily say that I made it last night and spent my first day there today.

I will admit that I feel very out of place not having my breeches and boots on at a horse show venue, but besides that I am having an absolute blast. I'll admit that I didn't take many pictures today as I was in awe of everything before me, but I promise I will have a full post on my entire time here.

I have showed at the venue at Tryon multiple times, but it has become a whole different beast since I have been here last. Yes, there are things that are unfinished and if you follow social media and WEG at all I am sure you have seen many a posts of all the good and bad that has happened and that is being posted. So first off, yes, I'll admit it is a bit of a bummer that some things are not finished completely - especially considering the money that is spent, but the important areas that were needed for the horses and the show itself (arena's, barns, etc.) are finished and look beautiful. Don't let the unfinished thought fool you, Tryon is still hosting a beautiful event and the staff is incredibly accommodating and friendly. I thoroughly enjoyed my first day.

Oh and if you're into shopping, this is where you want to be. I am in horsie shopping heaven. Everything my little heart desires is just a jump, skip, and a hop to to the next tent. Companies that I have drooled about on instagram but never see at the shows are here and I spent the majority of my day out and about trying things on, drooling over jewelry, admiring artwork, and talking with vendors  because everyone is so nice! It is always super fun to find out where everyone is from and sharing the love of horses with so many different countries and disciplines.

Basically, I never want to leave and I will continue to ignore my real life for the next few days and live in the dream world that is WEG for now.

Hurricane Survival 101

Disclaimer: This is how I survive the hurricanes I have been through. I have been very fortunate that I have kept power each time so I have been able to do some things that others may not have had the luxury to do.

Step 1: Charge everything! I charge everything I normally use - my laptop, my phone, my backup battery, my iPad, etc. Nick also charged an extra car battery we have so that if we lost power I could charge items using the car battery.

Step 2: Have lots of batteries! I don't have an official hurricane kit, but I do have flashlights and a radio that operate off of standard batteries. Make sure you have plenty just in case you are without power for days.

Step 3: Food and water. I always buy some bottled water and I also fill containers up at home. That way I have plenty for myself and the dogs. Also buy non-perishable food/food that doesn't have to be warmed up or refrigerated/frozen. We always have bread, peanut butter, jelly, crackers, chips, protein bars, fruit bars, etc. I also bought apples, bananas, celery, and some other items that I could eat and not totally go off kilter with my eating. We also filled multiple coolers with ice just incase we did lose power so that we could stick refrigerated food in the coolers.

Step 4: Get gas. Just in case you have to evacuate, make sure you have a full tank of gas.

*Not so serious steps to surviving hurricanes*

Step 5: Get yourself some nuggets to snuggle. Kidding. But they do make being in the house slightly more bearable. I also made sure the nuggets had food and plenty of green beans.

Step 6: If you are stir crazy like me and need to work out, either download online workouts that you can do at home (I google home workouts and save pictures to my phone) or if you do have the internet but do not/cannot leave the house, there are many no equipment at home workouts that you can follow along!

Last but not least, stay educated, safe, and don't panic! It's hard not to panic when the grocery store starts selling out of stuff and you start worrying about yourself, your family, your house, etc. Always be safe and help others in need. It warms my heart to see everyone helping each other during these times.

Those of you in the path of the hurricane, I hope you all made it through without much damage. I know this isn't an exciting post, but this is something a lot of people are facing right now.

I will be back with some fun posts next week or the week after. I have some new makeup that I am going to review as well as a post about WEG.

Friday

Happy Friday!!

I hope you all have had a lovely week and have some fun plans for the weekend. I will be working so make sure to do something fun for me.
Without further ado...lets get to it.

Do you find yourself in a dull state on a weekly basis? Do you want to start glowing on a daily basis. Well then I suggest you go pick up my newest highlighter obsession and get glowing!

This stuff is magical and literally $5. How can you beat that? You need so little and it is stunning. I will be buying a backup and possibly the 5 other colors in the range. Halographic is a stunning icy white with a purple irridescenty glow - simply stunning. I even received numerous compliments on how I was glowing from the inside out. Such a small application will leave you looking like a glowing goddess.

Lets just continue down the path of why I am broke. I will admit that I just ordered some products so I cannot fully attest to how much I like them, but that will be coming shortly and if you want to spend money on beautiful skin care products then meet Trulyorganic. Just look how gorgeous the products are. The face masks are to die for.

Look at this beautiful picture of their unicorn fruit whipped body butter from their instagram page

What did I binge watch in the last 24 hours? Jack Ryan! What a great show.

Do you enjoy a nice cup of tea? Then I suggest giving this tea a try. It is so good.

And do you need an adorable tea diffuser to steep your tea? Then say hello to baby nessie

Linking up with Amanda on this lovely Friday.
