Beach Therapy

I recently spent a week at beautiful Bald Head Island - hence my lack of posts the past week.
It was a family affair that included everyone but my dad, who enjoyed his week of peace and quite while the girls (and Nick!) took to the beach.

I wish I could say that it was slightly more relaxing than it really was, but I still enjoyed my time there. While I had a tough car ride home as I realized that Velvet would be leaving (possibly indefinitely to a new home) and Remi is spending some time at the vet clinic to diagnose a lameness issue, I was thrilled to sleep in my own bed again.

While on the Island I spent my time on the beach, eating a lot, consuming too many liquid calories, and I ate the best ice cream! Not only do they have the most delicious ice cream sandwiches, but I had the best carmel bourbon ice cream and I miss it.

Even though it is not as good as being on the beach yourself, please enjoy my photo montage of my time on the island.

The nuggets enjoy island life.

The beautiful views

Time spent with good company

One day I went to Southport with my mom and ate at the restaurant that Safe Haven had a scene filmed at!

Overall it was a nice getaway, but I was glad to be home in time to spend a few last moments with Velvet and see how Remi is progressing.

Hope you all are doing well!

Friday Favorites!

Welcome back and happy Friday!
I don't know about you all but my week has been super stressful and I can't wait to relax for a few days!
Linking up with KarliAmanda, and Christina!

/ Favorite Song
This song is so catchy and I absolutely love it!

/ Favorite Workout

XHIT is my new favorite fitness channel on Youtube. So many great workouts!

/ Favorite Local Food

If you happen to have a JuiceVibes near you then I highly suggest you go. I tried it out earlier this week and oh my goodness do they have the best smoothies ever! I got the Blondie, which consists of almond milk, peanut butter, honey, banana, maca, granola, honey roasted peanuts, and cinnamon. So good!

I have found my new favorite snack. Unfortunately it is made by a small bakery so it is not easily accessible but I just have to share it! It is a homemade granola bar and I just happened to buy one when I went to get a cinnamon role. Well, I was not disappointed in the least and ran back to our local farmers market to go get another one!

ColouPop Haul

In April I managed to stumble across a flash sale at ColourPop.
Confessions of a makeup addict...I waited three hours in order to enter ColourPop's website so that I could get free shipping and 20% off my order.

I tried to contain my enthusiasm and order things that I REALLY wanted. I ended up nabbing two eyeshadows, two eyeliners, two lippie sticks, and a supershock cheek.

I have not worn any makeup recently (sad, I know), but I do have swatches to share with you all!

L to R: Lumiere Lippie Stick, Topanga Lippie Stick, Get Paid Eyeliner, Piggy Bank Eyeliner, Fringe Eyeshadow, La La Eyeshadow, Monster Supershock Cheek.

The lippie sticks are beautiful everyday shades that I am sure I will be wearing a lot. They are very creamy and pigmented and I think I will be ordering more. The eyeliner are incredible. Super pigmented, very creamy, and apply like a dream. Get paid will be used so much and I am definitely ordering a backup. I am also super excited about piggy bank. Beautiful matte purple. I have always been a fan of ColourPop's eyeshadows so I know Fringe and La La will get plenty of use. Lastly,  I am so excited to use Monster as a beautiful highlight.

I do want to add that the eyeliners are super soft, which is great, but I did break the tip off of get paid when I swatched it.

I could have ordered everything, but I contained myself and am very happy with my choices. I cannot wait to wear all my new ColourPop goodies!

Friday Favorites!

Linking up with Amanda, Karli, and Christina/April for some of my favorite things this week!

Anyone have any fun plans for the weekend? I was hoping to horse show but unfortunately that is not happening as I eagerly await Remi's abscess to clear up. In the meantime I've been having fun with Miss Velvet instead.

3) Favorite Workout

This week it is all about stretching. I am guilty of not stretching near as often as I should so here is a daily stretch routine that I have started doing. I like doing it at night or in the morning but you can do it any time!

4) Favorite Easy Meal

Grilled romaine salads are becoming my new go to meal. It's quick, simple, and adds a bit of a twist to my usual salads. I grill the romaine, grill some chicken, and top with croutons, parmesan, and a little bit of caesar dressing.

5) Funnies

How I feel everyday that I go to visit Remi and see that his abscess still hasn't popped.

What happens every time I walk into Target.

When Ashley and I learned that it was an open bar at the Derby party.

When I sing in the car.

Happy Friday!

New e.l.f. Favorites!

I am always excited to find good beauty products at a great price!
I am always on the lookout for new e.l.f. products because the quality of the products is usually quite good and the price point cannot be beat!

Today I have three products to share with you all that have really stood out to me recently.

e.l.f. Beautifully Bare Blush in Rose Royalty

Rose Royalty is a cream blush that I spotted at Target a few weeks ago and I just had to pick it up. I am starting to prepare my makeup arsenal for nursing school - aka I won't have much time to get ready so I want products that are natural and convenient to use. I'm a fan of cream blushes and had to pick this up when I saw the color. It is very natural but there is definitive color payoff. It almost seems to be a cream to powder product with very good wear time. The first time I wore this I was out of town for the day and was rained on and was pleasantly surprised to see the blush still on when I got home. It retails for $4 and is well worth the price.

e.l.f. Smudge Pot in Brownie Points

This is an interesting little product. My Target only had two colors and I need to go back and purchase the second color and hunt around for more because I am thoroughly impressed. They are advertised as cream eyeshadows - which I have heard people are impressed by - but so far I've used Brownie Points as an eyeliner! I will be testing this out as an eyeshadow, but I had to include it in this post because the product is so creamy, the pigmentation is fabulous, and it does not budge until you take it off with makeup remover. It retails for $3 and you can't beat it!

Go do yourself a favor and buy this brush. It retails for $3 and it flawlessly blends out my concealer. I have been on the hunt for a fluffy brush to blend out my concealer and when I spotted this at Target I figured that I should give it a try for the price and it is perfect! It is super soft and shape of the brush fits perfectly underneath the eyes to blend out concealer. I will be purchasing more of these.

I also wanted to point out that I have heard wonderful things about the new blush and contour quads that e.l.f. has released. I have not picked them up yet, but I hear that the pigmentation and blend ability is great.

In other fun news...I received my ColourPop order in the mail yesterday so I will be sharing swatches of all my new goodies soon!

Life Lately

Hello!
Sorry about being MIA, but as we all know life gets in the way from time to time and one of the first things to get neglected is the blog.

So what have I been doing? Well, I have been watching plans change on an hourly basis recently and now everything is starting to calm down.
So last week I not only visited my cousin at a horse show, but I also got to play dress up in western wear.

Not going to lie, it was a lot of fun!
The next morning I was suppose to leave for a horse show of my own but Remi ended up with an abscess and came home to recover with the hopes of going to week two of the show. Unfortunately, we are still waiting for his abscess to pop so I have to miss out on week two as well.

While the weekend may not have turned out as planned, I still had a good time! Ashley, Nick, and I attended a Kentucky Derby party and had a grand time!

At the end of the night we stopped by the barn to visit my boy and girl. Velvet posed for her picture like the diva she is and Remi hobbled over to say hello as well.

So that's everything that has been going on in my life currently! How has your life been?

Stay tuned for new ELF makeup that I am loving and I bought some stuff during ColourPop's 20% off sale that I will also be sharing!
