March Favorites

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Water Foundation
At this moment, I have found my new favorite foundation. I have seen mixed reviews on this but I think that really has to do with your skin type. I have pretty normal skin and find that this foundation sits on my face beautifully. If you are in the market for a new foundation and have a normal skin type then check this out!

Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette
I know that people have loved this for a while but I recently started using it and I can see why! The colors are nice and they blend so nicely that you can get a beautiful contour and highlight while still looking natural.

Mac Eyeshadows in Woodwinked and Expensive Pink
I know I have mentioned Woodwinked a number of times, but that is because I always find my self reaching for it again. I also recently pulled out Expensive Pink and realized that the two make a beautiful combo. Since I will be starting nursing school in the fall I am all about shortening my makeup routine. This past weekend I put Woodwinked on my entire lid and used Expensive Pink and a Mac 217 brush to blend out Wood Winked. The final result reminded me of a sunset.

NYX Slide on Eye Pencil in Glitzy Gold
I am so in love with this eyeliner formula. I was on the hunt for a gold eyeliner for a while and stumbled upon this one but didn't realize how much I would love it. It is safe to say that I will be purchasing more of these!

What are your favorites for the month of March? Let me know!

+ Friday Feel Good/Favorite Video

No music today but instead I want to share one of the most adorable commercials.

Adorable!

+ Favorite Finds

It's all about the animals this week! I have been finding all sorts of cute things.

Spotted this little guy while going on a trail ride!

Saw this guy while out on a walk this morning. Just chilling in a neighborhood.

+Favorite Moment This Week

It's starting to feel real! I went and ordered my scrubs for nursing school today!! They may not be flattering but they sure are comfy!

+ Favorite New Thing

I now understand the obsession with Trader Joe's Cookie Butter. While I currently eat it with a spoon because I really am a terrible person, I will soon come up with other ways to enjoy it. Do yourself a favor and go try it if you haven't!

Movin On Up

This past weekend was a special one because, not only was it my first horse show of the year, but I was able to move up to the next division.
We may have had a few bumpy moments, but overall it had many good moments and I now have more/new things to work on. While Remi has much to learn, and I have many things to work on, we helped each other out when needed during the show.

After a long week the boys were ready to head home!

During my time in Raleigh, I ate lots of good food and thoroughly enjoyed my Chicken and Waffles from PG Werths.

This past weekend seemed to be a disappointment to me at first - read: I'm super hard on myself - but after reflecting on the weekend I realized that the rough moments were minimal and they aren't a hard fix. Overall, I had more good moments than bad and it is a milestone. I have to start somewhere! Now it is time to regroup and practice.

Overall it was a good weekend and has led me to see the positive in my mistakes and how to correct them.

P.S. Sorry for the lack of updates. I am trying to get nursing stuff taken care of this week - it's a bit more than I anticipated but exciting none the less!

Hope you all are having a good week!

4// Favorite Highlights

Don't quote me on this but I am thinking of subtly changing my hair up a bit. My natural color is a dark blond/light brown (depending on who you ask) and I have seen these beautiful caramel highlights and kinda want to go in that direction.

p.s. Do any of you remember those commercials?! I loved them.

Have a lovely weekend!

{Healthy} Chicken Salad!

Hello lovelies!
I apologize for being MIA earlier this week, but I am back with a chicken salad recipe that I think is going to be a new staple in my food repetroire.

Please click here for the original recipe.

Here's what I did:

Cook and shred 3 boneless skinless chicken breasts
1/2 cup red onion
3/4 cup sliced honey crisp apples
1 cup sliced red seedless grapes
1/2 sliced almonds
1/2 fresh lemon
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1 7oz container of Fage Greek Yogurt (I used about 6oz)
Salt and pepper to taste

Combine all ingredients into large dish and mix!

It's that simple and that good!
I eat mine with croissants, granny smith apples, or blue chips. Yum!
I think I am going to try it on romaine next.

I hope you all are having a good week!!

+ Newest Recipe I Want To Try

I stumbled across this healthy chicken salad recipe on Facebook and I cannot wait to try it out!

I will let you know what I think in the upcoming week.

+ Newest Obsession

Buff Bake. If you are a fan of almond butter or peanut butter then you have to try this! I had seen it around for a while but never took the plunge and tried it. I bought a few of the sample pouches and am hooked. I have to go buy some full size ones. I am just deciding on the flavors that I want...

+ Favorite Game

Neko Atsume

So it looks boring as all get out but it's actually addicting and I don't know why. It is a passive game where you buy toys, food, and accessories in order to have cats show up in your yard. You can then take pictures, expand your yard, find rare cats, etc. It seems boring as all get out but I find myself checking it from time to time throughout the day to check on the cats and amass more stuff. I'm becoming the iPhone cat lady.

+ Funnies

No gifs today. Instead, I have funny pictures that I have collected over the past few weeks.

Happy Friday!

Easy Breakfast Casserole

Today I am going to share a recipe that I discovered from Tasty. It is their easy brunch bake.

What you'll need:

6 refrigerated buttermilk biscuits
12 eggs

1/2 onion, diced
5 oz Canadian bacon, diced
1/2 cup cheddar cheese
1/2 cup mozzarella cheese
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
2 Tbsp. chives, chopped
+I added orange peppers as well

Directions:

Spray baking dish with pam

Place biscuits on bottom of baking dish

Combine rest of ingredients in bowl and pour on top of biscuits

Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes or until thoroughly cooked.

Overall, this turned out pretty good. I think I may substitute the biscuits for hash browns as the biscuits for to heavy for me, but Nick liked them. I would also suggest using a bigger baking pan because it took my casserole a solid hour to cook completely.

I am definitely making this again as well as trying out a healthier casserole that my dad made this past weekend.

Do you have any favorite breakfast bake recipes? Share them in the comments!

Birthday Weekend

Last week I became another year older and (hopefully) another year wiser.

The day of my Birthday I spent most the day with a friend while Nick worked and then that night Nick took me to dinner!
Then that weekend Nick and I headed to my parents and celebrated some more.

Saturday night the whole family went to dinner and we ate some wonderful food. I also ate way too much dessert but I don't regret it.

Ash also enjoyed hated the B-day fun when Nick stuck a bow on him.

I had a very nice and relaxing weekend and am looking forward to enjoying all of the beautiful weather this week! I hope you all had a good weekend.

Friday

Friday Favorites!

Hello and happy Friday!
Today I am linking up with Amanda and Karli to talk about my Friday favorites!

+ Favorite Thing I Made This Week

When I was younger, and ate crappy food, I use to love Taco Bell's Mexican Pizza's. Well I found a recipe for it and made my own earlier this week! P.S. It was really good.

You can find the recipe here

+ Favorite Song

I'm going to admit that I wasn't a fan of this song at first but now I love it.

+ Favorite Workout

Walking my nuggets! Yesterday we went on an hour long walk with my friend Amanda and her standard sized Aussie Koda. The weather was so nice here earlier this week so we took advantage of it and got some extra exercise in on top of our gym routines.

+ Favorite Quote

Rejection is part of life. Schools reject us, jobs reject us, people reject us, etc. In the end we all end up where we need to be and go in the direction we need to go - so it will be okay. Rejection is frustrating and hurtful but it will all work out.

+ Funnies

While I eagerly anxiously await to hear back from the last three nursing schools I applied to.

When I decided to be adventurous last night and get this 2oz whiskey pour that is a mystery (like a mystery dumdum as the waitress told me) and created by a whiskey connoisseur.

P.s. I'm pretty sure I drank pure gasoline.

When people ask how I feel about dessert.

Happy Friday everyone!

Thoughts On: Wet and Wild 1 Step WonderGel

Last week I talked about the Essence Gel Nail Color and while I was impressed with that (especially for the price point - $1.99!) I think I have found my new favorite gel polish.

I currently have two colors and am trying to restrain my self from buying more - thankfully my Target only has 4 or 5 shades so that has kept me at bay.

I bought Stay Classy and It's Sher-bert Day. There are 18 shades in total and I want almost all of them. My Target needs to step their game up and get some more of these. Ulta doesn't have them, so I guess I need to go try the drugstores.

As stated in previous posts, I do not expect nail polish to come close to lasting a week (or even 5 days on me) because I abuse them like crazy.

With the Wet and Wild's 1 Step WonderGel I had a solid four days of wear before I started to see some chipping at the tips of my nails. I never had any big hunks of polish come off and not all my nails showed wear.

The price point for these is $4.99 and I managed to get a dollar off of each polish because they had a little coupon attached. There is no base and top coat to go along with this, which I like because I tend to stick to my favorite base and top coats regardless of whether or not a brand pushes that there is a specific top and base coat to use with a product.

It's Sher-bert Day!

Stay Classy

These polishes applied well and I had opaque coverage in one coat. The formula was not streaky and multiple people commented on my 'shellac' nails.

Have you given these polishes a try? Let me know if you have and if there are any colors I need to get my hands on!
